Red Alder

This tree is known for its smooth, gray bark and dark green, oval-shaped leaves. In the fall, the leaves turn yellow before dropping, and the tree produces small, cone-like fruits that release seeds for reproduction. The Red Alder is a pioneer species capable of fixing nitrogen in the soil and improve its fertility.
