Pacific Ninebark

Physocarpus capitatus

Characterized by its striking peeling bark that reveals reddish-brown inner bark, hence the name "ninebark." The leaves are dark green, deeply lobed, and turn orange-red in the fall. Clusters of small white or pale pink flowers appear in the spring, followed by small red fruits in the summer.
