Cascara
Frangula purshiana
A small deciduous tree with smooth gray bark and simple, elliptical leaves that have serrated edges. The cascara tree produces small clusters of white flowers in the spring, followed by small red berries that turn dark purple when ripe. NOTE: Berries are not edible.
